3 New AIIMS Announced by the Central Government- AIIMS in Maharashtra, AP, WB states

The All India Institutes of Medical Sciences are a group of autonomous public colleges for higher education in Medical Studies. These institutes have been declared by Act of Parliament as “institutions of national importance”. AIIMS New Delhi, the fore-runner parent excellence institution, was established in 1956. Ina Recent Meeting with the Officials and Aiims Authority, the Centre Clears Proposal for Setting Up 3 New AIIMS in India.

These Three new All India Institutes of Medical Sciences or AIIMS are proposed at Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh and West Bengal under Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojna. This declaration for AIIMS Colleges  will cost Rs 4,949 crores approximately.

More Details for New All India Institutes of Medical Sciences:

These AIIMS institutes to be set up will be on the basis of AIIMS Delhi, and will be equipped with attached hospitals with capacity of 960 beds. Teaching block, nursing college, administrative block, Ayush block, auditorium,  night shelter, hostel and residential facilities. The government plans to increase overall availability of MBBS seats in India to 80,000 and of PG seats to 45,000 from the current 22,194 by 2021.

New AIIMS Proposed City & States are:

  1. AIIMS Nagpur,            Maharashtra
  2. AIIMS Manglagiri,      Andhra Pradesh
  3. AIIMS Kalyani,             West Bengal

At Present, there are 7 Aiims branches in India and all Functioning with Best Facilities. These are in New Delhi, Bhopal,  Bhubaneswar, Jodhpur, Patna, Raipur and Rishikesh cities. The large population of Maharashtra (Vidarbha), Andhra Pradesh  and West Bengal states and region will be benefitted from this AIIMS project.

With the latest Budget for AIIMS declared of Rs 4949 crore, the cost of the new AIIMS at Manglagiri in Andhra Pradesh will be around Rs 1,618 crore, at Nagpur in Maharashtra of Rs 1,577 crore and at Kalyani in West Bengal of Rs 1,754 crore.
