452 colleges of Mumbai University do not have Principals

Mumbai University is one of the best Universities in India. Almost 742 colleges are affiliated with MU, but the 290 colleges have permanent Principals, while 452 colleges are depending on the senior most member of management.

Possible issues found are lack of candidates with passable qualifications, and also, a lack of interest in candidates for the salary offered for the position.

Mostly colleges are running without principals, University also losing the controls on colleges. These managements tend to flout rules because there is no financial aid they expect from the government or the university.”

Yet another issue in front of university purportedly slows approval process. A Thane college principal, requesting anonymity, said, “After repeated requests, also we couldn’t find out the problem for delay in approving the post of a principal. University needs to speed up the process for colleges to be able to function properly.”
