The Indian Institutes of Technology or IITs are the autonomous public institutes of higher education in India. They are governed by the Institutes of Technology Act, 1961 which has declared these Institutes as “institutions of national importance“. Every year, administration of all the IITs  and Human Resources Department of India decides about the Development of Education. Recently, IIT fees relaxation has announced by the officials.

Each IIT is an autonomous institution, linked with all other IITs through a common IIT Council and their administration. Currently, the council is headed by HRD minister Smriti Irani. Now, there will be Fees relaxation for physically challenged students in IIT colleges. To relax admission norms for physically-challenged students to cope with the issue of reserved seats staying vacant in IITs.

More Details for IITs Fees Structure & fees Waiver Announced:

At Present, there are 19 IITs are functioning in India, and Government has Proposed and Planned 5 more Campuses for IITs in India. IIT council has decided to waive fees for physically challenged students. The IIT council met of the 16 IITs on 6th October 2015. As per the Official Sources, A committee has been set up to suggest a solution for the proposal to hike the IIT fees of Rs 90,000 per year to Rs 2.5 lakh.

All the IITs asked to relax admission rules for disabled candidates. Also, the minister insisted that “the interests of socially and economically weaker sections should be protected at all costs”. IITs would appreciably enhance government investments for building world class infrastructure for best development of Human Talent in India.

On an Average, IITs spend over Rs.3 lakh on each student every year. The SC and ST students belonging to economically weaker sections with a family income of less than Rs.4.5 lakh per annum need to pay only 10% of the fees in IITs.
